Rules 2026

The Chamber of Commerce of Umbria hereby announce the 16th edition of the International Journalism Award “Raccontami l’Umbria – Stories on Umbria”.
The competition is reserved to those articles dealing with the region’s artistic-cultural- environmental points of excellence and the high quality economic-productive system, bringing the national and international focus on Umbria and its territory and contributing to valorizing the best of Umbrian business production.
Terms and conditions
1. Participation in the competition is free of charge and implies full acceptance of these regulations
2. The award is divided up into four separate categories:
- Tourism, Environment and Culture: Photo-journalistic articles published in daily or periodic national and international newspapers and magazines, including on-line ones between 1st January 2025 and 1st February 2026 principally dealing with the tourist, landscape, environmental and cultural heritage of Umbria;
- Umbria del Gusto: Photo-journalistic articles published in daily or periodic national and international newspapers and magazines, including on-line ones between 1st January 2025 and 1st February 2026 principally dealing with the typical and high quality enogastronomic production of Umbria;
- Video (large productions): audio-visual reports aired between 1st January 2025 and 1st February 2026 on national or satellite television channels.
- Video (independent productions): audio-visual reports, made also by individual authors, aired between 1st January 2025 and 1st February 2026 on online channels (such as blogs, YouTube or similar platforms).
3. The Schools of Journalism Award has also been established, reserved for video reports made by students of Italian Schools of Journalism recognized by the National Council of the Order of Journalists, aired between 1st January 2025 and 1st February 2026 on national or satellite television or internet channels.
4. Articles or audio-visual reports may be produced by an individual or by a work group. Each author may send a maximum of two contributions to the Award Secretary’s Office. For the "Umbria High School Award" applications, please refer to the specific provisions referred to point 8.
5. All applications – articles or audio-visual reports – must be submitted online within the 2nd of February 2026 (h. 11.59 p.m.), on the official website www.umbria.camcom.it/stories-on-umbria-international-journalism-award by filling in the application form.
The entrant will be asked to attach:
- copy of the article (pdf or clear image file) or video (mp4 or downloadable link);
- front back ID copy;
- entrant’s short biography or curriculum vitae.
Any article or audio-visual report that has not been signed will be attributed to the editor of the newspaper or channel that published/aired the piece in question.
6. COMPETITION CATEGORIES
6.1 Tourism, environment and culture - € 2,500
We accept photo-journalism articles published in daily or periodic national and international newspapers and magazines, including on-line ones, between 1st January 2025 and 1st February 2026, principally dealing with the tourist, landscape, environmental and cultural heritage of Umbria. The articles must be sent together with a digital copy of the daily or periodical publication in which they were published.
6.2 Umbria del Gusto - € 2,500
We accept photo-journalistic articles published in daily or periodic national and international newspapers and magazines, including on-line ones, between 1st January 2025 and 1st February 2026, principally dealing with the typical and high quality enogastronomic production of Umbria. The articles must be sent together with a digital copy of the daily or periodical publication in which they were published.
6.3 Videos (large productions) - € 2,500
We accept audio-visual reports dealing with Umbria, aired between 1st January 2025 and 1st February 2026 on national or satellite television. The audio-video reports must be accompanied by a synopsis in Italian or alternatively in English.
6.4 Videos (independent productions) - € 2,500
We accept audio-visual reports dealing with Umbria, aired between 1st January 2025 and 1st February 2026 on online channels (such as blogs, YouTube or similar platforms). The audio-video reports must be accompanied by a synopsis in Italian or alternatively in English.
7. “Schools of Journalism” Award - € 1,000
The “Schools of Journalism” Award is dedicated exclusively to audio-video reports carried out by students of Italian Schools of Journalism recognized by the National Council of the Order of Journalists. Only audio-video reports aired between 1st January 2025 and 1st February 2026 on national or satellite television or internet channels will be admitted. The audio-video reports must be also accompanied by a synopsis.
8. Jury Prize - € 2,500
The Committee, as per point 9 below, may furthermore award the “Jury Prize” to one particularly worthy-candidate among the four main categories of the competition (see point 6).
9. The winners will be chosen by a Committee made up of experts nominated by the Chamber of Commerce of Umbria.
10. The Committee will evaluate the candidates according to these general criteria:
● originality of the themes proposed;
● breadth of information given;
● the ability to unite the themes of territory and business, with particular focus on the best business productions of the Umbrian region.
11. The Committee, whose decision is final and absolute, following the criteria set out in point 11, will select the winner for each category of the competition. The Committee may also award "Special Mentions" to applications deemed worthy of mention.
The winners will be invited to participate in the prize-giving ceremony, to be held in Perugia in April 2026, during the XXI edition of Perugia’s International Journalism Festival (15th–18th April 2026).
12. The Committee’s evaluations and decisions are final and absolute.
13. Any prizes not personally collected by the authors will remain available to the Chamber of Commerce of Umbria.
14. To ensure correct execution of the Award, the Chamber of Commerce of Umbria reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions if necessary, giving suitable notification thereof on its official website.

General Information
The organization Secretary’s Office of the competition is managed by the press Office
of the Chamber of Commerce of Umbria.
The Chamber of Commerce of Umbria reserves the right to publish the candidates’ work via its institutional communication channels, in respect of the integrity of the texts and images and within all copyright regulations.
All candidates in the various competition categories will be entered into a specific institutional mailing list, managed directly and exclusively by the Chamber of Commerce of Umbria, for the participation in press tours and other initiatives – including publishing ones – to promote the culture and tourism of the Umbrian region.
A 25% withholding tax will be made on the cash prizes, according to the law (art. 30 DPR 600/1973). This announcement has been approved by the Chamber of Commerce of Umbria, Determinazione Segretario Generale n. 531/2025
